Instructions for Microsoft Internet Explorer

Microsoft's Technical Support Page

To setup PCI Broadband as your default homepage.

  • Open internet explorer and go to http://www.pcibroadband.net
  • Click on 'tools' then 'internet options' then 'use current'
  • This can be used to set your homepage to any webpage that you like including msn.com, aol.com, or yahoo.com
  • Click on OK.

Allowing 'cookies' for banking and secure operations

  • Open internet explorer and click on 'tools' then 'internet options'
  • Find the 'privacy' tab then the 'edit' button
  • Add the domain name in question, i.e. pcibroadband.net, then click 'allow' then 'ok'
  • You will have to shut down internet explorer and restart the program
  • Some older versions may just need to lower the security level

Tell your computer what programs to use

  • Open internet explorer and click on 'tools' then 'internet options'
  • Find the 'programs' tab
  • The program listed in each category will be automatically used for the purpose listed to the left
  • You can change the default program anytime from here

Configuring Netscape for PCI

After you have successfully downloaded a new version of Netscape, you will have to install it, and configure it to properly work with PCI Broadband. If you haven’t downloaded Netscape, please visit our home page http://home.pcibroadband.net for instructions and links to the Netscape download area.

1. Install Netscape by running the *.exe file you previously downloaded. A Netscape installation wizard will guide. 2. Start Netscape 3. Select the OPTIONS menu from the Netscape tool bar

Select GENERAL PREFERENCES

  • Select APPEARANCE tab and change the home page location to http://www.pcibroadband.net
  • Select OK
  • Select MAIL AND NEWS PREFERENCES
  • Select SERVERS tab

Mail

  • Mail For Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server, type in "smtp.mailpci.net"
  • Mail For Incoming Mail (POP) Server, type in "pop3.mailpci.net"
  • POP User Name, type in your userid, example djwain, (do not type in @pcibroadband.net)
  • Mail Directory should be a directory on your machine
  • Leave everything else in the mail area the same

News

  • News (NNTP) Server, type in "news.pcisys.net"
  • News RC Directory should be a directory on your machine

Select IDENTITY tab

  • Your Name, type in your name
  • Your Email, Type in your userid@pcibroadband.net
  • Reply to address, Type in your userid@pcibroadband.net
  • Your Organization, Type in your organization if you wish.
  • Leave the other fields blank

Select ORGANIZATION tab

  • Check Remember mail password
  • Select OK 4. Change other settings as you desire.

5.Your Netscape should now be functional.

To use Netscape mail, you can either click on the small envelope in the lower right hand corner of the Netscape window or select WINDOW from the Netscape tool bar and then select Netscape Mail. To use Netscape News select WINDOW and Netscape News.
