This page helps to answer some frequently asked questions.

What is DSL?

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology uses standard copper phone lines to send a digital signal between two points. Because the signal stays digital and does not go through the public switched telephone network DSL allows a much faster data connection. This implementation of DSL uses your current phone line.

Will DSL interfere with my current phone service?

No. The DSL portion of the phone line runs in a different frequency on the same line. In some cases, however, you will have to install filters on telephones throughout your house because some telephones are sensitive to the new frequency.

What will DSL service provide?

DSL will allow you to connect to the Internet at a minimum of 256kbps through 640kbps bi-directional, (about 22 times the speed of a 28.8 modem).

Tech Corner: IP addresses will be assigned using DHCP. The address assigned will 'expire' after some period of time. After expiration, your computer will automatically request another address.

What is Standalone or Naked DSL?

This feature allows customers to enjoy DSL service without residenial phone service.  It does require that an actual phone line is connected to your residence, but telephone service is not required.

Will I be able to get a static IP, run a web, mail, FTP, news, server?

PCI Broadband will not assign a static IP for Residential DSL service. PCI Broadband will also not allow the setup of any types of servers with Residential DSL service. For Business customers please give us a call to discuss pricing and options.

Where will DSL service be available?

DSL will be available in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Boulder, Ft Collins, Grand Junction, and Vail in a limited area. The current limitation to DSL is your distance from the nearest QWest Central Office offering the DSL service.

What equipment is necessary for DSL service?

You will need a DSL modem. The cost for the modem is currently $5 per month rental fee if you get the Internal modem or external modem. You do not need any special wiring at your location, DSL service will come out of your normal telephone (RJ-11) jack.

How will I order DSL service?

Call PCI Broadband. Your DSL order must be made by PCI Broadband in order to get one of the specials. After you order DSL it should take 5 days to have it turned on at your location (if available).
